Schedule of events for 2020 Civil War Live!

6th Annual Civil War Era LIVE! Event.

Free event to come and learn about life during the civil war era. Come experience a little bit about life during the 1860's.

On this page, we will continue to provide updates to the learning stations planned and the schedule of presentations that will occur throughout the event. If you are coming, or considering coming and visiting our event, please check back often. Also, if you mark going or interested, Facebook should notify you when there are updates or changes. If you are a living historian looking for event details, please see the event listed "May HP Event" where you will find details specific to you.

If you are a teacher bringing a group of students on Thursday or Friday, please note that space is limited. Please be sure to contact the museum and reserve your space.

Schedule of Events:

Thursday: This day is dedicated to students from 9-3, and will be for older kids/schools (8-12 grade). Anyone is welcome, just please understand that during those hours, activities are scheduled and planned for school students. From 3-5, all public is welcome to come interact and enjoy the event.

Friday: This day is dedicated to students from 9-3, and will be elementary age students. Anyone is welcome, just please understand that during those hours, activities are scheduled and planned for school students. After 3, the event is open to the public and all are encouraged to come and enjoy the event.

Friday PM: There will be a special campfire concert. This event will not be free, and is listed on our page as a separate event. Please see that event page for cost information and further details.

Saturday:
8-12: Camps will be open to the public during this time. At noon, living historians will begin packing up. So if you want to visit the camps, and see the presentations, please plan accordingly.

Saturday Special Presentations!

9-10 AM: Guns from the Civil war to the Old West.
This presentation will be provided by Ray Heiser, our Cavalry living historian. He will discuss and show the different types of guns used through the civil war, and then into the Indian Wars and out west. More details to follow

10:30-11:30 AM: Civil War medicine.
This will be presented by Kathe Gabel. She will be discussing civil war medicine, the realities of medicine during the war. More information to come.

12-?: Hank Cramer, songs of the Trails.
Come spend the rest of the afternoon listening to Hank Cramer. He will be talking about and singing the music and songs that were sang by immigrants coming into the western territories via the western trails. This is a free event. In case of rain, it will be held inside. If the weather is nice it will be held outside, so plan to bring your lawn chairs or blankets, and spend the afternoon.
