BATTLE OF POKER FLATS

Sitting Bull on one side - Baker on the other. —— It happened right here in 1872 — Come find out about this fascinating piece of local history as told by Dave Eckroth - recognized local historian with Frontier Heritage Alliance for the American Battlefield Protection Program will give a talk on the Battle of Poker Flats.

Most of the camp was asleep, including Baker, who, according to "(General) Bradley had, “permitted himself to become unfit for the proper performance of his duties by an overindulgence of strong drink”. In a tent there were several officers, partially dressed playing poker - hence the name afixed to the Battle.
